U-Shape Box Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : TVT-CTE-10521
The U-Shape Box is a stainless steel apparatus with smooth inner walls used to assess the passing ability and density of self-compacting concrete (SCC) as it flows through a flow obstacle formed by four vertical reinforcement bars.
How It Works
SCC is poured into the vertical compartment of the U-shaped box; a guillotine-type gate separating the vertical and horizontal sections is then lifted, and a sliding gate splits the vertical portion from the horizontal one, allowing the concrete to flow through the reinforcement-bar obstacle (10mm-diameter bars, 35mm clear spacing) into the horizontal compartment. The final height the concrete reaches in the horizontal section indicates its passing ability and filling capacity.

Applications
Used to assess the passing ability and self-compacting behaviour of SCC through congested reinforcement, per the U-Box test described in the EFNARC Specification and Guidelines for Self-Compacting Concrete, complementing the L-Box, J-Ring and V-Funnel tests used to qualify an SCC mix.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the U-Box test measure?
It measures the passing ability of self-compacting concrete as it flows through a reinforcement-bar obstacle from a vertical into a horizontal compartment, indicated by the final height the concrete reaches.
How does the U-Box differ from the L-Box test?
Both assess passing ability through reinforcement, but the U-Box uses a vertical-to-horizontal flow through a guillotine gate, while the L-Box uses an inclined flow through a hinged gate — both are referenced in SCC guidelines such as EFNARC.
What is the reinforcement bar spacing in this U-Box?
Four vertical bars of 10mm diameter, spaced 35mm apart, forming the flow obstacle.
