Cast Iron Cylinder Mould

Product Code : TVT-CTE-10478

The Cast Iron Cylinder Mould is a rigid cast-iron mould for casting cylindrical concrete specimens, offered in the standard Ø100 x 200mm and Ø150 x 300mm sizes used for compression, splitting tensile, and modulus of elasticity testing, plus an additional shorter Ø150mm diameter option.

How It Works

Fresh concrete is placed and compacted (by tamping or vibration) into the assembled cast-iron cylinder mould to cast a specimen of precise, repeatable diameter and height, then cured and demoulded once it has set sufficiently to retain its shape.

Technical Specifications

ParameterSpecification
Ø100 x 200mm Cast Iron Cylinder Mould200 x 190 x 220 mm, 10.5 kg
Ø150 x 150mm Cast Iron Cylinder Mould255 x 240 x 170 mm, 12.8 kg
Ø150 x 300mm Cast Iron Cylinder Mould255 x 240 x 320 mm, 16.7 kg
Note on the Ø150 x 150mm sizeThe standard height-to-diameter ratio for concrete cylinder specimens is 2:1 (e.g. Ø150 x 300mm), matching the largest size above; this Ø150 x 150mm (1:1 ratio) listing is presented as published, but buyers needing a standard 2:1 cylinder should confirm this size's intended use with Tvet Equipments before ordering.

Applications

Used to cast concrete cylinder specimens for compressive strength, splitting tensile, and modulus of elasticity testing per ASTM C31, ASTM C192, IS 516, and EN 12390-1, which specify standard cylinder mould dimensions and tolerances.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the standard cylinder size used for concrete compressive strength testing?
Ø100 x 200mm and Ø150 x 300mm are the two most common standard sizes, both maintaining the standard 2:1 height-to-diameter ratio specified in ASTM C31/C192 and IS 516.

Why does the middle-sized listing show a 1:1 ratio (Ø150 x 150mm) instead of 2:1?
This is presented as published in Tvet Equipments' specification data; it does not match the conventional 2:1 cylinder ratio, so buyers should confirm the intended use of this specific size before ordering.

Can these moulds be used for splitting tensile testing as well as compression?
Yes — the same standard cylinder sizes (Ø100 x 200mm, Ø150 x 300mm) are used to cast specimens for both compressive strength (ASTM C39) and splitting tensile strength (ASTM C496) testing.
