The Vebe Consistometer 110kg is a larger-format Vebe consistometer purpose-built for determining the consistency and density of roller-compacted concrete (RCC) and similar stiff, low-workability mixes, including cement-treated aggregate and soil-cement type mixes.
How It Works
The apparatus works on the same reconsolidation-under-vibration principle as a standard Vebe consistometer, but is sized for RCC testing: it uses a larger Ø240 x 200mm cylindrical mould and a heavier, more rigid frame to handle mixes with a maximum aggregate size up to 50mm. The table vibrates at a fixed, calibrated amplitude (0.43 ± 0.08mm), and the time taken for the mix to reconsolidate under vibration is recorded as a measure of workability and, together with the compacted mass, is used to assess density. Tvet Equipments notes it can also be used on cement-treated aggregate and soil-cement mixes in addition to RCC.
