Vebe Consistometer Apparatus Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : TVT-CTE-10452
The Vebe Consistometer Apparatus measures the consistency and workability of low-slump, stiff concrete mixes by timing how long the mix takes to reconsolidate under standard vibration — a range where the ordinary slump test gives little useful discrimination between mixes.
How It Works
A standard slump cone is filled and struck off inside a cylindrical container mounted on the Vebe apparatus's small vibrating table, which runs at a fixed amplitude and frequency. The cone is lifted away, leaving the slumped concrete shape, and a clear plastic disc is lowered onto the top surface. The vibrating table is then switched on, and the test is complete once the underside of the disc has been fully coated with cement grout — meaning the concrete has fully reconsolidated to fill the container and contact the disc uniformly. The elapsed time, recorded in seconds, is the Vebe time: shorter times indicate a more workable mix, longer times indicate a stiffer, drier mix.

Applications
Used to determine the consistency/workability of low-slump, low-workability concrete mixes per EN 12350-3, ASTM C1170, and IS 1199, commonly applied to pavement-quality, roller-compacted, and other stiff or dry concrete mixes where the slump test is not discriminating enough.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Vebe time actually measure?
The time, in seconds, for concrete struck off in the shape of a slump cone to fully reconsolidate under standard vibration until its top surface uniformly contacts a plastic test disc — shorter times mean a more workable mix.
When is the Vebe test preferred over the standard slump test?
For low-slump, stiff or dry concrete mixes, where the slump cone alone gives little variation between different mixes and the Vebe time gives better discrimination.
How does this differ from the Vebe Consistometer 110kg model?
This standard model follows the general-purpose Vebe test (EN 12350-3/IS 1199); the 110kg model is a larger unit purpose-built for roller-compacted concrete (RCC) consistency and density determination per ASTM C1170, with a different mould and desk area.
