Cylinder Capping Equipment Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : TVT-CTE-10466
The Cylinder Capping Equipment range covers the accessories needed to sulfur-mortar-cap concrete cylinder specimens, ensuring the loaded end surfaces are plane and perpendicular to the cylinder axis before compression testing.
How It Works
Molten sulfur-mortar capping compound is melted in the melting pot and ladled into the capper, which holds the cylinder end vertically against a level reference plate while the compound sets, producing a thin, flat, perpendicular cap. Vertical cylinder cappers are supplied for the common Ø150 x 300mm (Ø6" x 12") and Ø100 x 200mm cylinder sizes, plus a multiple-size capper for labs handling more than one cylinder diameter; a cylinder carrier assists in moving capped specimens without disturbing the cap.

Applications
Used to prepare plane, perpendicular loaded end surfaces on concrete cylinder specimens before compressive strength testing, per ASTM C617 and IS 516, which specify capping material and end-preparation tolerances for cylinder compression testing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do concrete cylinders need to be capped before compression testing?
Cylinder ends from casting are rarely perfectly flat and perpendicular to the cylinder axis; capping with a sulfur-mortar compound corrects this, so load is applied evenly and the strength result is not distorted by uneven bearing.
What cylinder sizes does this equipment cover?
Dedicated cappers are available for Ø150 x 300mm (Ø6" x 12") and Ø100 x 200mm cylinders, plus a multiple-size capper for labs handling more than one cylinder diameter.
Is there an alternative to sulfur-mortar capping?
Yes — Tvet Equipments also offers gypsum-based capping compound and a sandbox-method capping apparatus, and unbonded neoprene-pad capping retainers (see the Unbonded Capping Retainers product) are a further alternative under ASTM C1231.
