Skid Resistance Test Apparatus Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : TVT-BATE-10367
The Skid Resistance Test Apparatus from Tvet Equipments (a pendulum-type tester) measures the frictional skid resistance of pavement surfaces and the Polished Stone Value of aggregates, by recording the energy loss when a rubber slider edge is swung over the test surface.
How It Works
A calibrated rubber slider, mounted on the end of a pendulum arm, is released from a fixed height to swing across the test surface under its own weight. Friction between the slider and the surface removes energy from the pendulum, and a light-alloy pointer — designed for extremely low friction so it does not itself distort the reading — records how far the pendulum swings past the surface, giving a direct skid resistance value. A slider-lifting device built into the pendulum base and a simple height-adjustment system keep every swing consistent and repeatable.

Applications
The Skid Resistance Test Apparatus is used for pavement friction testing under BS EN 13036-4 / ASTM E303, the standard pendulum test methods for measuring surface friction properties, both on site directly on road pavements and in the laboratory on aggregate specimens from an accelerated polishing machine. It is used by highway agencies, contractors, and pavement research laboratories.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Can this apparatus be used both on site and in the lab?
Yes, it is suitable for both applications — measuring skid resistance directly on road pavement surfaces on site, and measuring Polished Stone Value on curved aggregate specimens in the laboratory.
Q2. What other surfaces can it test?
Beyond road asphalt, it can also be used to test natural stone surfaces and concrete block pavers for skid resistance.
Q3. What makes the reading accurate?
A low-friction light-alloy pointer and an original low-friction pendulum release mechanism minimise mechanical losses in the tester itself, so the recorded energy loss reflects the test surface's friction rather than instrument error.
