Permeameter Apparatus Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : TVT-BATE-10370
The Permeameter Apparatus from Tvet Equipments is a portable field instrument used to check the in-situ permeability and drainage capacity of road carpets, concrete pavements, and tamped earth surfaces.
How It Works
The bottomless plexiglass cylinder, 140 mm internal diameter, is sealed hermetically onto the surface under test. Water is filled into the cylinder up to the upper calibration line (250 mm), and the time taken for the water level to fall to the zero-point calibration line is recorded, as the water infiltrates through the surface being tested. Faster infiltration (shorter time) indicates a more permeable surface, while a slow or negligible drop indicates a well-sealed, low-permeability surface.

Applications
The Permeameter Apparatus supports in-situ permeability testing of pavement surfaces under test methods such as EN 12697-40, the European standard for in-situ permeability of bituminous mixtures, helping highway agencies and contractors verify that road carpets and concrete pavements meet drainage and water-tightness requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What does the permeameter test measure?
It measures how quickly water infiltrates through a pavement or ground surface, indicating the surface's permeability and drainage capacity.
Q2. Can it be used on surfaces other than asphalt?
Yes, it is used on road carpets, concrete pavements, and tamped earth surfaces, wherever in-situ permeability needs to be checked.
Q3. Why must the cylinder be sealed hermetically?
A hermetic seal against the surface ensures that all water loss recorded is due to infiltration through the surface itself, rather than leakage around the cylinder base, giving an accurate permeability reading.
