The Probe Apparatus (27 kg) is a manually operated soil probing/sounding rod set capable of probing to depths of up to 13 metres, depending on ground conditions, for preliminary geotechnical site investigation.
How It Works
Threaded steel rod sections are driven and extended progressively into the ground by hand to build up a probing string; resistance encountered while advancing the rods gives a rapid, low-cost indication of subsurface strata changes and relative soil consistency. The set is particularly useful for initial site reconnaissance in remote or access-restricted areas where drilling rigs are impractical, and — when used in conjunction with a limited number of control boreholes — allows a much larger area to be investigated quickly and cost-effectively.
