The Hand Auger Apparatus is used to obtain cohesive soil or sand samples during soil investigation, built with a heavy-duty steel auger head forming an open tube with an interlocking cutting edge, available in 80mm, 100mm and 150mm diameters.
How It Works
The auger head is rotated by hand into the ground, its interlocking cutting edge shearing and drawing soil up into the open tube; the auger is periodically withdrawn to remove the collected sample, allowing progressive sampling as the borehole advances, typically extended with additional rod sections for greater depth.
