Motorised Vertical Extruder

Product Code : TVT-BATE-10371

The Motorised Vertical Extruder from Tvet Equipments provides smooth, rapid extrusion of compacted soil and asphalt specimens from their moulds with minimum disturbance, supporting both CBR and Marshall sample extraction.

How It Works

The mould containing the compacted specimen is positioned vertically in the extruder, fitted with the appropriate adaptor for a 100 mm or 150 mm diameter specimen. The motorised ram drives the specimen upward out of the mould at a controlled speed onto a height-adjustable receiving table positioned alongside the machine, which can then be lowered to receive the specimen gently as it emerges, before the ram is returned at a faster reverse speed ready for the next extraction.

Applications

The Motorised Vertical Extruder supports specimen removal in CBR testing under ASTM D1883 / IS 2720 Part 16 and Marshall mix design testing under ASTM D6926, giving consistent, low-disturbance extraction so specimen integrity is preserved for subsequent testing. It is used in soil and asphalt testing laboratories handling high specimen throughput.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What specimen sizes does the extruder handle?
It comes complete with adaptors for both 100 mm and 150 mm diameter specimens, covering the standard CBR and Marshall mould sizes.

Q2. Why is the reverse speed faster than the extrude speed?
A faster reverse speed (140 mm/minute versus 70 mm/minute forward) lets the ram return quickly after each extraction, improving throughput when processing multiple specimens.

Q3. Can it extrude both soil and asphalt specimens?
Yes, the unit is designed for smooth, rapid extrusion of both soil (CBR) and asphalt (Marshall) specimens with minimum disturbance to either material type.
