Asphalt Rotating Plate Oven Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : TVT-BATE-10363
The Asphalt Rotating Plate Oven from Tvet Equipments determines the loss in mass and the hardening effect of heat and air on a film of semi-solid bituminous material using the classical Thin Film Oven Test (TFOT) method, with a fully stainless-steel, fibreglass-insulated chamber for stable, uniform heating.
How It Works
A measured film of bitumen is placed in flat sample pans on a rotating plate inside the oven's stainless-steel chamber, held at a controlled 163 °C with tight temperature fluctuation control. As the plate rotates slowly, every part of the bitumen film is repeatedly exposed to the heated air inside the chamber, and the sample's mass loss and property change (measured before and after the test) indicate its resistance to short-term thermal and oxidative ageing. The glass viewing door lets the operator monitor the test without opening the chamber.

Applications
The Asphalt Rotating Plate Oven is used for short-term ageing conditioning of bitumen under ASTM D1754 / AASHTO T179, the standard test methods for effect of heat and air on asphalt materials (Thin Film Oven Test), applied in asphalt binder QC laboratories and highway material approval facilities as an alternative to the rolling-bottle RTFOT method.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. How does the TFOT differ from the RTFOT?
The TFOT exposes bitumen in flat pans on a slowly rotating plate (5-6 rpm) inside a static chamber, while the RTFOT rotates bitumen-filled bottles at a higher speed; both age the binder using heat and air but follow different standard procedures (ASTM D1754/AASHTO T179 vs. ASTM D2872/AASHTO T240).
Q2. What temperature control does the oven offer?
It holds 163 °C with a temperature fluctuation of only ±0.5 °C and a resolution of 0.1 °C, giving precise, repeatable conditioning.
Q3. Can I monitor the sample during the test?
Yes, the oven has a glass viewing door, so the sample can be observed throughout the test without opening the chamber and disturbing the temperature.
