Peat Auger Set Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : TVT-STE-10589
The Peat Auger Set is a specialised sampling tool for recovering samples of peat and soft clay from depth, supplied complete with accessories in a strong transit carry case for site work.
How It Works
The auger head is designed to cut and retain a core of soft, organic or fine-grained material as it is turned into the ground, and extension rods are added progressively to reach the required sampling depth, down to 10 metres in suitable ground conditions. The design is tailored to soft peats and clays that would be poorly retained by a conventional soil auger, giving a representative sample for identification and further laboratory testing.
Technical Specifications
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Function | Peat and soft-clay sampling to depths of up to 10 m (suitable conditions) |
| Supplied | Complete with accessories in a strong transit carry case |
Applications
Peat and soft-clay sampling supports geotechnical investigation of organic and highly compressible ground, consistent with the general site investigation practice of IS 1892: Code of Practice for Subsurface Investigation for Foundations and ASTM D420: Standard Guide to Site Characterization for Engineering, Design, and Construction Purposes; recovered material is typically characterised in the laboratory per ASTM D2974: Standard Test Methods for Moisture, Ash, and Organic Matter of Peat and Other Organic Soils. This data is essential for embankment, road and foundation design over peat and soft organic deposits, where settlement and stability risks are significantly higher than over mineral soils.

Frequently Asked Questions
What depth can the Peat Auger Set reach?
It can sample to depths of up to 10 metres in suitable ground conditions, using extension rods added progressively.
Why is a dedicated auger needed for peat and soft clay?
A conventional soil auger can poorly retain very soft, organic or fibrous material; the peat auger head is designed specifically to cut and hold such samples during retrieval.
How is recovered peat characterised in the lab?
Recovered peat samples are typically tested for moisture, ash and organic matter content per ASTM D2974, informing embankment and foundation design over organic ground.
