Laboratory Vane Apparatus Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : TVT-STE-10554
The Laboratory Vane Apparatus determines the shear strength of a soil sample confined within its sample tube, supplied with a hand-operated clutch for controlled torque application.
How It Works
A four-bladed vane is pressed into the soil sample still confined in its sampling tube; the hand-operated clutch applies a steadily increasing torque to rotate the vane at a controlled rate until the soil shears, and the maximum torque recorded is used to calculate the soil's undrained shear strength.

Applications
Used to determine the undrained shear strength of cohesive soil samples per ASTM D4648 (Standard Test Method for Laboratory Miniature Vane Shear Test for Saturated Fine-Grained Clayey Soil) and IS 2720 Part 30 (laboratory vane shear test), commonly used on undisturbed tube samples for geotechnical design.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Laboratory Vane Apparatus measure?
The undrained shear strength of a cohesive soil sample, still confined in its sample tube.
How is torque applied during the test?
Through a hand-operated clutch, which applies a steadily increasing, controlled torque to rotate the vane until the soil shears.
What type of soil sample is this test suited to?
Saturated, fine-grained clayey soil samples, typically undisturbed tube samples collected during site investigation.
