Jolting Apparatus

Product Code : TVT-CMTE-10388

The Jolting Apparatus from Tvet Equipments compacts freshly mixed cement mortar into 40 x 40 x 160 mm prism moulds through a controlled series of standardised jolts, giving laboratories consistently compacted mortar specimens ready for curing and later strength testing.

How It Works

Mortar-filled prism moulds are clamped onto the oscillating half of the apparatus's two-part structure. The machine then delivers a fixed drop height of 15 mm at a rate of 60 jolts per minute, with a digital selector letting the operator pre-set the exact number of cycles before the machine automatically stops. A built-in feed hopper and quick-locking clamp keep the mould secure and correctly positioned throughout compaction, and specimens can be easily removed afterward to check weight.

Applications

The Jolting Apparatus is used to compact cement mortar prisms to EN 196-1, the governing European standard for cement strength testing, which specifies exactly this two-stage jolting compaction method for preparing the 40 x 40 x 160 mm mortar prisms subsequently tested for flexural and compressive strength.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What standard governs the jolting compaction method?
EN 196-1 specifies the jolting apparatus method for compacting cement mortar into prism moulds ahead of strength testing, including the drop height and jolt-rate parameters this apparatus delivers.

Q2. How many jolts does the apparatus deliver?
It operates at 60 drops per minute from a fixed 15 mm drop height, with a digital selector allowing the operator to pre-set the exact number of cycles before the machine stops automatically.

Q3. Can the mould be removed easily after compaction?
Yes, the quick-locking clamp design allows the prism mould to be removed easily to check specimen weight once jolting is complete.
