CBR Apparatus 78 kg Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : TVT-STE-10553
The Field CBR Test Set (78kg) enables the bearing capacity of in-situ soil to be determined quickly and efficiently directly on a road construction site, without needing to bring undisturbed samples back to the laboratory.
How It Works
The test set is set up directly on the compacted subgrade or subbase surface; a reaction load (typically a loaded vehicle or ballast frame) provides the resistance needed to drive the standard penetration piston into the soil at the standard rate, and load versus penetration is recorded on-site to calculate the in-situ California Bearing Ratio.

Applications
Used to determine the in-situ California Bearing Ratio of compacted subgrade and subbase layers directly on site per ASTM D4429 (Standard Test Method for CBR of Soils in Place) and IS 2720 Part 31 (field CBR method), verifying pavement layer quality during road construction without laboratory remoulding.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does field CBR testing differ from laboratory CBR testing?
Field CBR testing measures the bearing ratio of the soil in its actual in-situ compacted state on site, while laboratory CBR testing (per ASTM D1883) uses a remoulded specimen compacted in a mould under controlled conditions.
What reaction is needed to perform a field CBR test?
A reaction load — typically a loaded vehicle or ballast frame — is needed to provide the resistance for the penetration piston to be driven into the soil.
What does this test verify during road construction?
It verifies that the compacted subgrade or subbase layer meets the design bearing capacity before the next pavement layer is placed.
