Travelling Beam Apparatus Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : TVT-BATE-10359
The Travelling Beam Apparatus from Tvet Equipments is a simple mechanical device used to detect surface irregularity on concrete or asphalt pavements, consisting of a beam with rigid wheels at each end and a probe wheel at the centre.
How It Works
The two end wheels run along the pavement surface, establishing a reference straight line between them, while the centre wheel rides on a graduated scale linkage. Any vertical deviation of the pavement surface beneath the centre wheel — a dip or a hump relative to the straight line joining the two end points — is read directly off the scale as the beam is moved along the surface, in increments as fine as 2 mm.

Applications
The Travelling Beam Apparatus is used for pavement surface regularity checks under BS EN 13036-7, the European standard test method for irregularity measurement of pavement course surface characteristics, on both concrete and asphalt pavements. It is used by highway construction contractors and site quality control teams for finished-surface acceptance testing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Can this apparatus be used on both concrete and asphalt?
Yes, it is designed for use on either concrete or asphalt pavement surfaces to check for surface irregularity.
Q2. What range of deviation can it measure?
The scale reads vertical deviation up to ±25 mm, in 2 mm increments up to 10 mm and 5 mm increments from 10 to 25 mm.
Q3. How does it differ from a simple straightedge?
The travelling beam has wheels at both ends and a centre probe wheel linked to a graduated scale, so it can be rolled continuously along the pavement rather than being repositioned section by section like a static straightedge.
