The Rate Of Spread tray apparatus from Tvet Equipments is a simple, field-portable device used to determine the rate of spread of bituminous binder sprayed onto a road surface during surfacing or surface-dressing work.
How It Works
A metal 300 mm square tray of known weight is placed on the sprayed surface directly in the path of the binder distributor and lifted afterward by four attached chains onto a balance. The weight of binder collected on the tray is read off the balance and, knowing the tray's area, converted to a rate of spread in kg per square metre, giving a quick field check of distributor output.
