How It Works
The mortar prism specimen rests on two lower steel bearers set at a fixed 100 mm span. An upper longitudinal bearer, fitted to a self-aligning ball setting, applies the load at the mid-span of the specimen as the testing machine's ram advances, ensuring even load distribution across the prism's width even if the specimen or bearers are not perfectly aligned. The specimen is loaded to failure, and the recorded peak load is used to calculate flexural strength.
