40.1 x 40 x 160 mm Mortar Prism Compression Device Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : TVT-CMTE-10427
The 40.1 x 40 x 160 mm Mortar Prism Compression Device from Tvet Equipments is a compact steel jig that adapts a compatible compression testing machine to test the broken half-prism portions of 40 x 40 x 160 mm mortar specimens after flexural testing.
How It Works
Following the flexural (three-point bending) test of a 40 x 40 x 160 mm mortar prism, the two resulting half-prism portions are each loaded in compression using this device, which positions the broken specimen portion squarely within the testing machine's platens. This two-stage sequence — flexural test first, followed by compression testing of the broken halves — gives both flexural and compressive strength results from the same original casting.

Applications
This device is used for the compression stage of the two-part cement mortar strength test to EN 196-1 and IS 4031 Part 6, in which broken half-prisms from the flexural test are subsequently tested in compression to determine mortar compressive strength.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What standard governs this two-stage test sequence?
EN 196-1 and IS 4031 Part 6 both specify testing 40 x 40 x 160 mm mortar prisms in flexure first, then testing the resulting half-prisms in compression using this type of device.
Q2. Why test compression on the broken halves rather than a separate specimen?
Testing the broken flexural half-prisms in compression gives both flexural and compressive strength results from a single casting, improving laboratory efficiency without needing separate cube specimens for every result.
Q3. What device is used for the preceding flexural test?
Tvet Equipments' Mortar Prism Flexural Device provides the 100 mm span three-point bending set-up used before this compression stage.
