Le Chatelier Soundness Kit Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : TVT-CMTE-10419
The Le Chatelier Soundness Kit from Tvet Equipments determines the expansion of cement using precision spring-tensioned split-cylinder moulds, giving laboratories the complete kit needed to run the Le Chatelier soundness test across multiple specimens per batch.
How It Works
Each Le Chatelier mould is a spring-tensioned split cylinder, 30 mm internal diameter and 30 mm high, with two indicator stems attached either side of the split, each measuring 165 mm from its tip to the centre of the cylinder, and fitted with an O-ring. A neat cement paste is used to fill the mould, which is then immersed in water and later boiled; the change in distance between the indicator tips before and after boiling gives the expansion reading. Since results can vary between individual specimens, two or three moulds are used per test for a reliable average.

Applications
This kit is used to determine the expansion (soundness) of cement to IS 4031 Part 3 / EN 196-3, the Le Chatelier method specified as an alternative to the autoclave expansion test (ASTM C151) in IS- and EN-based testing regimes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Why are 2-3 moulds used per test?
Running multiple moulds per test batch accounts for natural specimen-to-specimen variation and gives a more reliable average expansion result.
Q2. What standard governs this test?
IS 4031 Part 3 and EN 196-3 both specify the Le Chatelier method for determining cement soundness via split-cylinder expansion.
Q3. What are the precise mould dimensions?
Each mould is a 30 mm internal diameter, 30 mm high split cylinder with indicator stems measuring 165 mm from tip to cylinder centre, fitted with an O-ring.
