The Bend & Re-Bend Device is used for bending and re-bending reinforced concrete bars to assess ductility — how far a metal can be deformed by bending before it fractures.
How It Works
The specimen bar is bent around a former to a specified angle and then bent back through a smaller angle in the opposite direction; a bar that shows no cracking through this bend/re-bend cycle demonstrates the ductility required for on-site bending and fabrication. The higher a metal's ductility, the further it can be bent without breaking, which is exactly what this test is designed to measure.
