Silica Sand is a graded, uniform sand consumable supplied in two gradings for use in field density testing.
How It Works
The sand is poured from a calibrated Sand Pouring Cylinder to fill the test hole excavated in the sand replacement method of field density testing; because the sand's bulk density has been pre-calibrated for its specific grading, the volume of the test hole can be calculated from the weight of sand needed to fill it, allowing the in-situ dry density of the excavated soil to be determined.
