The Data Logger Rain Gauge is a battery-powered tipping-bucket rain gauge system with an event data logger, used to automatically record rainfall amount, timing, and duration.
How It Works
A tipping-bucket mechanism registers a discrete "tip" each time a fixed, calibrated volume of rain has been collected; a Pendant Event data logger records a time and date stamp for every tip, allowing rainfall rate and duration to be reconstructed afterward, with data retrieved via a base station or shuttle. When fitted with an optional solar radiation shield, the system can also record temperature. The system can record up to 160 inches of accumulated rainfall, at rates up to 12.7cm (5 inches) per hour.
