The Moisture Content Tin With Cover is a lightweight aluminium container with a fitted lid, used to hold soil or material samples during oven-drying moisture content determination.
How It Works
A moist sample is weighed in the tin with its cover on, the cover is removed and the sample oven-dried to constant weight, and the dried sample is re-weighed (with the cover back on, to prevent moisture reabsorption) so that the moisture content can be calculated from the loss in weight; the tin's own tare weight is recorded for each size so it can be subtracted from the readings.
