The Los Angeles Abrasion Apparatus from Tvet Equipments is used to determine the resistance of aggregates to abrasion and impact (Los Angeles Abrasion Value), a key test for judging the quality of coarse aggregate used in road construction, concrete work and railway ballast across India. The drum is rotated by a speed-reducer-driven electric motor fitted with an automatic revolution counter for accurate, repeatable cycle counts.
How It Works
A measured sample of aggregate, along with a specified number of steel abrasive charges, is placed inside the rotating steel drum. As the drum rotates at a controlled speed, the aggregate is subjected to abrasion, impact and grinding action. After the set number of revolutions, the sample is sieved and the loss in weight is used to calculate the Los Angeles Abrasion Value. Abrasive charges need to be ordered separately. This is an upgraded version of the system, built for more stable and better long-term performance.
